It is the oldest university in Virginia and was founded by Methodists, Baptists, and Presbyterians. The University of Richmond is located in the heart of downtown Richmond, Virginia. UofR has been educating leaders and sits on an idyllic campus filled with trees, brick buildings, fountains, and flowers. There are many different academic departments that offer degrees in everything from business to English.
Richmond's campus is located on 500 acres of land with beautiful architecture and idyllic green spaces. Many of the buildings have been around for over 100 years but are still being used today. One example is Founder's Hall, which was built in 1820 and features a large classroom space with beautiful murals on its wall.
It offers bachelor's degrees as well as graduate degrees including MBA programs that ranked #48 in the country according to US World News. Many other schools have recognized it as one of the best colleges for its undergraduate and graduate programs, including Kiplinger's Personal Finance magazine which ranked University of Richmond #15 on their list of 2018 Best Values in Private Universities.
Students can choose from more than 50 undergraduate majors, 20 graduate programs, and 10 certificate programs. There are over 200 clubs and organizations that students can join to meet new people, try out a new hobby or even compete with others on campus. The school has many different traditions including the annual Bonfire face-off between the Richmond Spiders men's basketball team versus their rival University of Virginia Cavaliers.
There are also 19 NCAA Division I athletic teams to cheer for, including the Spider's men's basketball team.
The University of Richmond offers an Honors Program that allows students to take honors courses as undergraduates or graduate students at the same time they're pursuing their bachelor's degree program or master's degree program respectively (and yes - it does count towards graduation). How to get to the University of Richmond?
To get to the University of Richmond from the airport, you can take a taxi to campus. You will arrive at either the Richmond International Airport or Amtrak Station and from there it is fairly easy to get around via car services like Uber or Lyft.
To drive from Washington DC, you should follow I-64 East towards Fredericksburg/Richmond for about an hour and fifteen minutes until you reach the campus.
